Hip-hop world still wonders about the extent of the alleged relation between Drake and Rihanna.
The two icons are believed to have been in an on-again, off-again relationship from 2009 to 2016 but their fans never had an official confirmation.
However, many continued to speculate that Drizzy never completely got over his old flame, with some suggesting that he may have referenced her in his 2024 song Family Matters.
The diss largely targeted Kendrick Lamar but one mostly overlooked verse told a different story.
“Ask Fring if this a good idea the next time you cuddled in that bed again. She'll even tell you leave the boy alone 'fore you get your head split again.”
Some interpret the particular lyric as a reference to Rihanna (Fring) and her partner A$AP Rocky because Drake is widely known as “the boy.”
The theory recently gained more traction after a user on X, formerly Twitter, posted a picture of the Barbados singer wearing a shirt that echoed part of the aforementioned verse: “LEAVE THE BOY ALONE.”
While all this could be a coincidence, it does add intrigue among fans as to what other Drake lyrics contain cryptic Rihanna references.
In April, Drake announced his ninth solo album during a livestream with Adin Ross. "Working on a new album right now... It slaps," the rapper said.
