Wendy Williams’ guardianship drama has a bizarre new update as her ex-husband Kevin Hunter files a lawsuit on her behalf with a whopping 48 defendants that have allegedly stripped her of her constitutional rights.
The television producer, who was married to the former broadcaster for two decades before they parted ways in 2019, named himself as co-plaintiff in the filing.
In court documents obtained by People, the 52-year-old highlights, “Guardianship is a civil death. In New York, more than 28,000 adults, which includes [Williams], are being abused, neglected, and defrauded under the care of court-appointed guardians."
The lawyer responsible for the filing, LaShawn Thomas, stated that Wendy herself in not legally aware of all the evidence in the report that seeks to free her from forced guardianship.
Regardless, the document also claims $250 million for a list of things, namely reputational damage, financial loss, deprivation of liberty and emotional distress.
Kevin is also seeking to be Wendy’s “next friend," which is a person who can take legal action “on behalf of an individual unable to assert their own rights and when no guardian is acting in their best interests."
The co-plaintiff has also requested that the former The Wendy Williams Show host be released from involuntary confinement and have a new impartial guardian.
In 2023, Wendy Williams was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, which can cause memory issues and mood fluctuations.
