The YSL Records racketeering trial, which has been ongoing for over three years, is finally drawing to a close with no murder convictions.
The longest trial in Georgia’s history initially involved 28 defendants but has now been reduced to only one remaining case after Demise McMullen pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of aggravated assault.
The case focused on allegations that YSL, the rap collective co-founded by Atlanta rapper Young Thug, was a criminal enterprise responsible for a string of violent crimes.
Prosecutors contended that YSL functioned as a criminal gang (Young Slime Life) out of southeast Atlanta and engaged in murder, drug trafficking and weapons violations while masking its activities behind a legitimate record label (Young Stoner Life Records).
The investigation reached a crucial point in May 2022, when a 65-count indictment was unsealed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis under Georgia's RICO statute.
Among the key defendants were Thug, who faced multiple charges before pleading guilty to gang, drug and gun charges in late October 2024, and Yak Gotti, who was acquitted of all charges.
After McMullen’s plea deal, only Christian Eppinger remains, with jury selection for his case set to begin on June 9.
