King Charles honours royal family's old tradition after closing doors on Harry

King Charles continued the years-old tradition of the royal family in his latest public appearance amid a deepening feud with Prince Harry.

As per the royal family's official Instagram page, the monarch stepped out to attend the Ceremony of the Keys at Lancaster Castle on June 9.

During his visit, the King met with many members of the local community at Lancaster Castle.

Buckingham Palace's spokesperson shared, "The King, who is also The Duke of Lancaster, has taken part in the traditional Ceremony of the Keys at Lancaster Castle!"

Sharing the importance of the Ceremony of the Keys, King Charles' team said, "This tradition dates back to 1851, when the keys to the Castle were presented to Queen Victoria."

Notably, the monarch also "met members of a Fijian Choir, formed from the First Battalion of The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment."

In a video released on the royal family's social media channels, the King was seen beaming with joy as he honoured his family's tradition.

King Charles' outing came after several reports claimed that he 'shut down' doors on his son, Prince Harry, after his bombshell BBC interview and Daily Mail's report which revealed that he 'sought advice' from his uncle Earl Spencer about changing royal surname to honour his mother, Princess Diana's surname, Spencer.
