Ryan Reynolds receives support from Rob McElhenney amid legal battle

Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor Rob McElhenney sat down for a joint interview with Variety along with his wife, Kaitlin Olson where he expressed his support for Ryan Reynolds.

The two are Wrexham AFC business partners, having grown close and becoming friends since they purchased the Welsh soccer team together.

Reynolds is currently embroiled in a legal battle after his wife, Blake Lively sued her former co-star, Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment and defamation. He has filed a $400 million countersuit against them both.

Explaining how he supports him by sending a constant stream of jokes and memes, McElhenney said, “It’s just our way of staying connected and navigating something together. And also me giving and showing as much support as I possibly can with all the other stuff that he’s got going on, that I know is so difficult and challenging.”

The actor continued, “We both are just trying to offer our support in any way that we can that doesn’t just simply add oxygen to the fire.”

A recent development in the case saw U.S. district judge Lewis J. Liman reprimand Baldoni’s lawyers for accusing Lively of trying to force her friend, Taylor Swift to issue a public statement of support using an anonymous source.

He wrote in the filing, "The sole purpose of the Letter is to 'promote public scandal' by advancing inflammatory accusations, on information and belief, against Lively and her counsel. It transparently invites a press uproar by suggesting that Lively and her counsel attempted to 'extort' a well-known celebrity."
