Steve Guttenberg shared a shocking rescue story of the 2025 Palisades fire, that he forced his way into the house.
The save followed an old couple, the 67-year-old dragged them out of the house, despite them striking him and telling him that they hated him.
The Police Academy star was the guest on On Par podcast with Maury Povich, where he recounted the incident that happened a few days prior.
A friend sent Guttenberg a text that an elderly couple would not leave their home as flames were coming towards them.
Guttenberg went and took a borrowed automobile to their house and knocked on the window.
"They're watching TV and they go, 'Hey, get away,'" Guttenberg remembered. "You've got to leave, the fire is coming."
Guttenberg forced his way in through a window when the couple denied him. "The guy's like, 'I'm going to call the cops on you.' I go, 'That's why I'm here, call the cops. You've got to leave!'"
He opened the door, took them and took them out, adding "They hated me," with a laugh
"The woman's hitting me in the head. I go, 'Lady, you can't stay in this house. Your house is going to burn down!' And it probably did," he noted.
Guttenberg was already reported by EW to have assisted in relocating abandoned vehicles to open up roads to emergency vehicles. "In a crisis, always remember that you're part of a community."
Dick Van Dyke was among the neighbors of Guttenberg and was moved out of his home by his neighbors.
Notably, the Palisades fire had over 6,800 buildings that were burned down.
