Alison Brie and Dave Franco are in deep trouble with their upcoming movie Together, which premiered at Sundance and was acquired by Neon for $17 million.

A lawsuit was filed against the couple on Tuesday, stating that the two and others involved copied the 2023 indie film Better Half, citing similar plot lines and themes.

Better Half is written and directed by Patrick Henry Phelan and produced by StudioFest, that is also the sole plaintiff.

The complain accuses the couple of copying Better Half with specific scenes reenacted exactly the same.

Together will be released on August 1. It is a surreal rom-com that follows the story of a couple that wakes up physically fused together.

Another similarity is the identical ending of the two movies, both end with the couple pulling out a copy of Spice Girls’ album Spiceworld as they accept their fate.

It has also been reported that the script of the project was sent to Alison and Dave’s agents at WME in 2020 however, they declined it.
