Director of John Wick 5, Chad Stahelski sat down for an interview with Empire where he provided some insight into the film.
He insisted that the new installment will be “really different” as compared to the first four starring Keanu Reeves, “The saga of John Wick was pretty wrapped up. So the only way to do a [fifth film] is to have a new story that involves John Wick. It’s not a continuation with the High Table. John dealt with his grief. It will be really different, and everybody [will] see the trailer and go, ‘Holy f***…I gotta see that.’”
He also discussed some of the other projects in the universe, including Ballerina starring Ana De Armas, as well as the TV series, Under the High Table.
Stahelski admitted that both the projects will be building up to what takes place in John Wick 5, “The John Wick TV show and the animation are big priorities. Our idea is to try some things and explore some threads and use those two properties to catapult us forward into the ideas for John 5.”
Ballerina is set to release in theatres on June 6.
