Bo Bragason, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth cast in ‘Legend of Zelda’

Bo Bragason, Benjamin Evan are set to star in the Nintendo’s live-action Legend of Zelda movie as Zelda and Link.

Shigeru Miyamoto took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, July 16 and announced it on Nintendo's official page.

The Japanese film producer wrote: “This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san.”

While sharing the pictures of the pair in costume, he continued: “I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.”

Miyamoto further confirmed that the upcoming movie will be released in cinemas on May 7, 2027.

English actress Bragason, 21, is best known for her roles in the BBC One series Three Girls, The Jetty, and Disney’s Renegade Nell.

Ainsworth, 16, has also earned the reputation as Miles in Netflix show The Haunting of Bly Manor and as William in Flora & Ulysses.

The director of 2024 Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Wes Ball will take the helm of the upcoming movie.

The highly-anticipated film will adapt the Nintendo gaming franchise titled Legend of Zelda that launched in 1986. The story follows young Link and Princess Zelda, who tried to save the kingdom of Hyrule from the evil Ganon.

Sony will be the distributor of film that hails from Nintendo and Arad’s Production.

When will Legend of Zelda be released?

The Legend of Zelda will be released in theatres on May 7, 2027.
