With the roaring success of Illumination and Nintendo's The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it was reported that the next big budget movie would be an animated version of The Legend of Zelda, however those talks have now been quashed.
A recent report had alleged that the fruitful partnership, that has produced other successful works like Sing and Despicable Me, would progress into a new project that brought Nintendo's beloved The Legend of Zelda to light.
The development came after Chris Meledandri, founder and CEO of Illumination and the producer, spoke to TheWrap and gave an update regarding the prospect.
"I don’t know where that came from," Meledandri said.
"I mean I can understand how people would surmise all sorts of things because obviously, we’ve had a great experience working together."
He added that while he currently sits on the board of directors, it bears no meaning to the future of The Legend of Zelda.
"My relationship with Nintendo now includes being on their board of directors, so I understand how people can surmise these things.
"But in terms of the specifics, that was just something that I’ve been hearing lots of reports. This is just about what’s next between Nintendo and Illumination."
