The John Wick franchise has been confirmed to be continuing for a 5th part by Jenefer Brown, EVP and Head of Global Products & Experiences at Lionsgate.
After four successful films, the franchise has amassed a major following. It ended up extending to the series, The Continental and will next include, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina in June.
“This world continues to grow and expand in incredible ways,” Brown explained, “Up next, of course, we have Ballerina, which is our first spin-off movie and [we] can’t wait for that to release to the world. Of course, we’ve announced we’re working on a fifth John Wick film. I think there are more spinoffs to come, a TV series, video game.”
She added about the main character’s return, “We’ve shared that we’re developing a fifth John Wick film … [John Wick] may be [dead]. We are all on bated breath waiting to find out.”
Having portrayed the titular character for four films, Keanu Reeves himself confirmed that the character had died in the last film, though he will be appearing in Ballerina.
The synopsis for the original film reads, “John Wick is a former hitman grieving the loss of his true love. When his home is broken into, robbed, and his dog killed, he is forced to return to action to exact revenge.”
