Henry Golding, who is reprising his role from A Simple Favor, opened up about the difference he felt starring alongside Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick.
The 38-year-old actor, who played ex-husband of Blake’s role, revealed that a lot has changed since his first appearance in 2018 in terms of his personal and character growth.
In Today interview, Henry acknowledged that initially his character was “just the punch bag between” Emily, played by the Gossip Girl alum, and Stephanie, played by Anna.
Although Sean Townsend was “the guy that they would kick and he’d take it,” in Another Simple Favor he marked his comeback by losing “his inhibitions and just decided to give back as much as he takes.”
Working with the “best collaborator” Paul Feig, he enjoyed the process of “creating” by changing his personality to “sort of the opposite of what he was.”
Being a fairly new actor back then, he recalled “being a green horn on set” as he would usually say: “Yes ma’am. Yes, sir.”
However, the Last Christmas actor came back “having a lot more experience and finding a voice” as he gave a lot of suggestions for his character.
He admitted that working with Blake and Anna again was “like putting on a worn-in pair of [sneakers] and going for a casual run,” referring to his familiarity with the ensemble and the team.
Henry Golding rose to fame by hosting BBC’s The Travel Show back in 2014. The British actor stepped into the acting world by starring in Crazy Rich Asians.
