Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are under fresh fire as critics accuse the couple of continuing to “exploit” their royal connections, despite officially stepping down from royal duties over five years ago.

Royal commentator Russell Myers is blasting the Sussexes, claiming their continued use of royal stylings undermines their entire post-Megxit narrative.

Writing in The Mirror, Myers said: “What has become apparent after five years of this process is both Meghan and Harry still rely heavily on the royal connection they fought so heavily to rid themselves of.”

He continued: “Whether Harry is considering penning a follow-up to his explosive memoir, or fighting his father’s government in court for taxpayer-funded security, it runs deep. Meghan too finds herself accused of trading on the titles they were explicitly warned against using.”

Myers acknowledged the couple left the Firm to build an independent life in the US and that begrudging them for that is “unfair.” But he argued their ongoing association with royal status has become impossible to ignore.

“Harry and Meghan may then find the royal connection they so desperately want to preserve is their undoing in the court of public opinion,” Myers concluded.

The latest controversy was sparked by a card, shared publicly by entrepreneur and podcast host Jamie Kern Lima, which appeared to show Meghan still styling herself as "HRH The Duchess of Sussex."

The note, which accompanied a gift basket sent last year, reignited long-standing debate about the couple’s use of royal titles.

Why can Prince Harry, Meghan Markle not use 'HRH' title?

The late Queen had issued a statement at the time supporting the Sussexes’ desire for a more independent life but emphasized that stepping away from royal duties would mean giving up certain privileges, including using "HRH" publicly.

Along with dropping the titles, the Sussexes agreed to renounce public funding, withdraw from the Royal Rota media system, and relinquish Harry’s military appointments.

Meghan’s casual use of the "HRH" moniker on a public gift is raising fresh questions about whether the Sussexes are blurring the lines between royal life and private ventures.
