The 78th Cannes Film Festival is confirmed to run from Tuesday, May 13 to Saturday, May 24, and the jury and selection for each competition are being confirmed slowly.
French filmmaker and screenwriter, who is popularly known for March of the Penguins, Luc Jacquet, will direct the Immersive competition jury at Cannes.
The Immersive competition, which was introduced in 2024, is returning in the 2025 festival as well. The competition is created to empower a distinctive storytelling style that primarily entails spatial and sensory experiences.
The finalised jury for the Immersive competition includes Luc Jacquet as the director whereas Laurie Anderson (American artist), Tania de Montaigne (French writer), Martha Fiennes (British director) and Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Japanese video game creator) will join as the judges.
This selection of the jury shows the inclusiveness of the whole world when it comes to creativity and storytelling.
The Immersive competition will be held at the closing ceremony of Cannes, 24 May, and the honourable judges will decide the awarding of the prize for Best Immersive Work.
Sixteen immersive films from nine different countries will be screened at the festival, out of which nine are included in the competition.
