Prince William and Kate Middleton marked their 14th wedding anniversary with a quiet but romantic gesture sharing a rare personal photo that gave fans a glimpse into their enduring bond.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, who spent the day carrying out royal engagements in Scotland, posted the intimate snap to social media at the end of their visit to the Isle of Mull.

Taken from behind, the candid photo shows the couple wrapped in each other’s arms as they gaze out at the stunning Scottish landscape, a rare, unscripted moment of affection captured during a public outing.

"Wonderful to be back on the Isle of Mull. Thank you to everyone for such a warm welcome," the caption read, signed off with a red heart emoji and the initials “W & C”, a personal touch that signals the message came directly from William and Kate, not their social media team.

According to royal biographer Ingrid Seward, the couple’s openness in recent months is no coincidence. Following Kate’s cancer diagnosis last year, the pair seem more comfortable showing affection in public.

“They are happy for people to see them be touchy-feely,” Seward told PEOPLE. “They’re in a different phase of their life now. William is very protective and very proud of her for coming through this and carrying on with her life.”

When did William and Kate tie the knot?

The pair married on April 29, 2011, in a breathtaking ceremony at Westminster Abbey attended by royals, celebrities, and world leaders.

Kate stunned in a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown, and William stood at the altar in full military dress, flanked by his brother, Prince Harry, as best man.

The couple is now parents to son, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.
