Jesse Plemons has been cast to take on the role of young Plutarch Heavensbee in the Hunger Games prequel adaptation, Sunrise on the Reaping.

The role was taken on by the late actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman in the original films, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.

Interestingly, Plemons has played Hoffman’s son in a previous flick. He portrayed the character of Val Dodd, son of the latter’s character, Lancaster Dodd in the Oscar nominated flick, The Master from Paul Thomas Anderson.

“Jesse is one of the most talented actors of his generation, with a proven record of picking his roles selectively,” Co-president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, Erin Westerman, said in a statement, “We are honored that he has chosen to bring his own take to one of the most fascinating figures in Panem, and feel that his previous collaboration with Philip Seymour Hoffman makes it all the more special.”

Hoffman’s performance in the dystopian flicks were his last, with other stars working with him in the franchise including Jennifer Lawrence, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Jeffrey Wright, Donald Sutherland and more.
