Despite recent headlines suggesting a fallout, Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie are still close, according to a royal insider.
The clarification comes after broadcaster Piers Morgan claimed that the Duke of Sussex “went ballistic” upon seeing photos of Eugenie hugging Morgan outside a London pub.
Speaking on his show Uncensored, Morgan said Harry’s alleged reaction was triggered by the Princess being seen socialising with someone who has frequently criticised the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, particularly Meghan Markle.
But a source speaking to People magazine dismissed the rumours, saying: “The Duke remains close to Princess Eugenie. They always have and always will be.”
Earlier reports had claimed that Harry felt betrayed by Eugenie after the photo with Morgan surfaced, with one friend telling The Sun: “A dim view was taken of this... Eugenie has been supportive of Harry and Meghan for years and was right there at the beginning of their relationship but it has now soured.”
Morgan, meanwhile, doubled down on his version of events, telling viewers: “She was having lunch with me and a group of people in a pub in London."
"I was seen hugging them goodbye and Harry saw this and went completely ballistic. I can confirm that is entirely true. Because he couldn’t bear it.”
Despite Meghan and Harry’s strained ties with the royal family, Princess Eugenie remains one of their closest allies. She was the first royal Harry introduced Meghan to in 2016 when they started dating.
In 2022, Eugenie even made a rare cameo in the couple’s Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan. She was seen playing on the beach in California with Prince Archie, 5—a sign of her enduring bond with the Sussexes.
