Rachel Zegler, who plays main lead in the live action remake of Snow White, faced harsh reactions from her followers after claiming big about the movie despite having a slow opening.
The 23-year-old actress ignored the slow ticket sales and drowsy start as she turned to Instagram to make a strong statement for the musical.
Rachel celebrated her project as she shared a picture of herself, looking royal in the princess' dress on the set and waving with a wide smile.
The caption drew criticism from the viewers which labelled the fairy tales: “#1 MOVIE IN THE WORLD!”
Fans were quick to call out the seemingly blatant ignorance as one wrote: “You have the worst opening in Disney history.”
Another follower poked fun at the Golden Globe award-winner for declaring that the movie holds first position around the world despite having a “lower score than Dragon Ball evolution the movie in IMDb.”
On the other hand, there were many positive comments that appreciated The Hunger Games actress for her performance with one user gushing: “You did excellent, ignore these people, I really loved the movie.”
Although the film started out great by taking over others like Captain America: Brave New World and Mickey 17, it has still reportedly underperformed when compared to a massive budget of $270 million.
Several movie critics are not happy with the “woke” remake, calling it “broke” and “mediocre.”
The Hollywood Reporter highlighted the failed attempt of the fantasy story to meet the high box office opening expectations through the weekend.
Disney’s hope fell short as it only collected a total of $87.3 million, with domestic and international total combined.
Although the Y2K star initially called the original cartoon of 1937 “weird,” she presumably contradicted her own views as the actress later named the opportunity “honor of a lifetime.”
