Prince William 'infuriated' over Meghan Markle's continuous Diana references
Prince William is extremely sensitive when it comes to his late mother Princess Diana's legacy
Meghan Markle’s ongoing feud with the British royal family is well known, but now, reports suggest her latest public appearance has angered Prince William.
According to Radar Online, the Duchess of Sussex was recently spotted wearing a Northwestern University sweater, similar to one worn by Princess Diana in 1996. While it may seem harmless, insiders claim it has left Prince William seething.
A source told the outlet: "Meghan and her husband, the Duke of Sussex, have definitely ruffled some feathers in the Royal Family. I mean, her attempts to channel Princess Diana's style? On the surface, it doesn’t seem that bad, but you won’t believe how it’s got under William's skin.”
The insider explained that William is extremely sensitive when it comes to his late mother’s legacy.
"He can be sensitive when it comes to anything relating to his beloved mother. It’s pretty clear he’s wishing Meghan would just let Diana's legacy rest in peace,” they shared.
This isn't the first time that Meghan Markle has invoked Princess Diana's name in her projects.
In the 2022 Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan, Meghan could be seen showing a photo of Diana to her son, Archie, and referring to her as "Grandma Diana."
"Who’s that?" Meghan asks her son. "Hi, Grandma. That's Grandma Diana."
The source added that Prince William is uncomfortable with how Meghan continues to tie herself to Diana’s image, claiming it’s drawing serious side-eye from royal circles.
"By trying to connect herself to Diana, she’s inviting some serious side-eye and accusations of having questionable taste. Poor William may be fuming, but it’s not like he can put a stop to her.”

Meghan frequently honours Diana’s memory through subtle style choices and public statements that celebrate her legacy.
Earlier this month, during the Invictus Games in Vancouver, Meghan opted for a navy blue knitted jumper from La Ligne, paired with Veronica Beard flared jeans in Indigo and black Stuart Weitzman boots. However, the real standout piece was her Doen’s Duccio jacket in castle grey, which bore an uncanny resemblance to one of Princess Diana’s most iconic coats.
