Meghan Markle’s new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, is already stirring controversy—this time, for its striking resemblance to Pamela Anderson’s upcoming cooking and lifestyle show.
Anderson’s series, Pamela, Cooking With Love, shares an eerily similar concept and title to Meghan’s, leading to accusations that the Duchess of Sussex may have copied the Baywatch star’s idea.
According to royal commentator Neil Sean, Meghan’s show appears to be a “frame-for-frame” replica of Anderson’s.
“As you can see, Meghan has been inspired by her [Anderson’s] cookery show, right? It’s difficult to reinvent it, but Meghan didn’t even bother with that. Clearly, she just got inspired,” Sean stated on his YouTube channel.
He further suggested that Anderson is the one benefiting from the alleged imitation.
“This is going to be very successful for Pamela Anderson. In effect, Meghan being inspired by Pamela’s show has literally been an injection back into Pamela’s brand,” he added.
Meanwhile, News.com.au columnist Daniela Elser acknowledged that some overlapping elements between lifestyle shows are inevitable.
“Both shows seem to promise to show us the hitherto unseen getting-back-to-basics side of two very famous women as they glory in banging pots and pans and ambling around their personal kale crops,” she noted.
Elser also pointed out similarities in their promotional messaging.
“In With Love, Meghan, she makes candles and arranges flowers. Ms. Anderson told the Flavour Network she loves to make candles and flower arrangements,” she explained.
Adding to the speculation, Anderson’s show was first teased in October 2024, while Meghan’s trailer dropped three months later. Fans were quick to notice the shared themes of gardening, home cooking, and a rustic aesthetic.
Anderson’s trailer features her strolling through a lush garden before stepping into her kitchen, stating, “I love to cook. I just have always wanted to take things to another level.”
Meanwhile, Meghan’s show showcases her picking fresh produce and preparing meals in her bright Montecito kitchen, saying, “I’ve always loved taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it.”
The similarities in dialogue and visuals have fuelled online debates, with many accusing Meghan of lacking originality.
Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their thoughts, with one user writing: “If you watch the trailer for Pamela’s new show, it’s a more authentic version of what Meghan was trying to achieve & it looks as though Meghan has copied everything! The trailers are so similar it’s freaky.”
PR analysts believe Meghan is repositioning herself in entertainment, with the Oscars being a prime opportunity. With her new lifestyle show with Netflix premiering within days, this could be the start to Meghan rebranding herself in her post-royal career.
