Russo Brothers tease new 'Avengers' film: 'Anyone in the Marvel bag could show up'

Hollywood’s dynamic directing duo, Joe and Anthony Russo, are sharing new insights about the upcoming Avengers films that have Marvel fans buzzing with excitement.
During the world premiere of The Electric State at Los Angeles’ Egyptian Theatre Hollywood, the brothers spoke to Deadline about the challenges and excitement surrounding Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, set to release in 2026 and 2027 respectively.
Joe Russo revealed that the films will be shot back-to-back in London, making it an intense and ambitious production.
"It’s all in London, we’re shooting them fairly back-to-back, it’s a lot of work again, we may or may not survive, we’ll see," Joe joked.
Despite the demanding schedule, he expressed excitement about the project: "But we’re very excited about it. We found a way into the story that we think is gonna be challenging for audiences, it’s challenging for us to execute. And it’s really exciting for us, it gets us out of bed to do it."
Joe Russo was also asked if the films would feature long-anticipated characters from the X-Men universe or even Deadpool, now officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
His response left fans with more questions than answers: "Who knows? I don’t know. I don’t know who we’re gonna see. I still don’t know. Anybody in the Marvel bag could show up in this movie."
The upcoming Avengers films mark the Russo Brothers’ return to the MCU after their record-breaking successes with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
With speculation growing about potential X-Men crossovers, multiversal surprises, and Deadpool’s involvement, fans are eagerly awaiting more details on Marvel’s biggest projects in years.
