Meghan Markle may have only launched her Instagram account last month, but she is already outpacing some of the most well-established royal accounts.
In just two months, the Duchess of Sussex has surpassed Princess Eugenie’s follower count, hitting an impressive 2 million followers. Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie, who has been on Instagram for six years, currently has 1.8 million followers.
Meghan’s rapid Instagram growth is notable, given that Princess Eugenie launched her account in March 2018 on International Women’s Day.
Eugenie, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, has consistently used her platform to highlight causes, family moments, and personal milestones. She even welcomed Prince Harry and Meghan to Instagram in 2019 when they created @sussexroyal.
Now, Meghan’s social media return appears to have captured massive public interest, allowing her to surpass Eugenie’s years-long follower count in record time.
Despite Meghan and Harry’s strained ties with the royal family, Princess Eugenie remains one of their closest allies. She was the first royal Harry introduced Meghan to in 2016 when they started dating.
In 2022, Eugenie even made a rare cameo in the couple’s Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan. She was seen playing on the beach in California with Prince Archie, 5—a sign of her enduring bond with the Sussexes.
