King Charles's US tour in doubts amid cancer treatment concerns

King Charles and Queen Camilla have reportedly been considering a tour of the United States and Canada, but a royal source has revealed that the trip remains uncertain due to the King’s ongoing cancer treatment.

According to a close friend of the King and Queen, no plans have been finalized yet, and there is no formal invitation in place for the royal visit.

Speaking to The Daily Beast, the insider said: "Any such plans remain entirely contingent on his ongoing cancer treatment."

The friend further explained that because of the King’s health concerns, there is currently "no insight to share beyond the usual position that there remains, as ever, a willingness to travel when and where required, subject to the normal process and diary prioritization review—none of which has been undertaken, still less approved, for 2026."

Just last week, The Mirror reported that a North American tour is being planned for next year, with discussions already underway between UK and US officials.

A government insider told The Mirror: "This will undoubtedly be the biggest tour of the King’s reign so far, a huge undertaking for a British monarch to be hosted in the United States."

The source also emphasized that the tour could strengthen UK-US relations, adding: "Americans love the British Royal Family, and it is a great opportunity for both sides to reaffirm the special relationship in such an important and historic year for the US."

Furthermore, the King has been particularly eager to visit Canada, a country he holds deep affection for. "It will be a charm offensive on both sides," the source added.

What is King Charles diagnosed with? 

Buckingham Palace confirmed in February 2024 that King Charles III has been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer. He is undergoing treatment, but continues to carry out limited royal duties while focusing on his health.
