Meghan Markle has officially unveiled the new name of her lifestyle brand, but eagle-eyed royal watchers believe her announcement contained a hidden dig at the British royal family.
The Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram to reveal that her brand, As Ever, will officially launch in two weeks, coinciding with the premiere of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
"As Ever essentially means as it's always been, and if you've followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I've always loved cooking and crafting and gardening—this is what I do," Meghan said in her video.
She then appeared to reference her inability to share her passions in recent years, saying: "And I haven't been able to share it with you in the same way for the past few years, but now I can. So as things are starting to trickle out there, I wanted you to hear it from me first."
Many royal fans immediately speculated that Meghan’s words were a not-so-subtle jab at the Firm, referencing how she had to shut down her original lifestyle blog, The Tig, in 2017 when she became engaged to Prince Harry.
Since stepping down from royal duties in 2020, Meghan has reclaimed her public voice and re-entered the lifestyle space, this time under her own terms.
What does Tig mean in Meghan Markle's blog?
Meghan Markle named her lifestyle blog The Tig after her favourite wine, Tignanello, an Italian red wine that she described as a "game changer" in her understanding of wine. She wrote in her blog that Tig became a personal symbol for "that moment when it all clicks"—not just in wine but in life, fashion, and personal growth.
