Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s strained relationship has been a major topic of discussion since Meghan married Prince Harry and entered the royal fold. Now, a new book is shedding light on what Meghan really thought of her sister-in-law.

Royal expert Tom Quinn’s upcoming book, Yes Ma’am: The Secret Lives of Royal Servants, dives into Meghan’s time in the royal family and features insights from palace insiders.

Quinn quotes a former member of the Palace’s communications team, who claims Meghan wasn’t impressed by Kate’s approach to royal life.

"Meghan thought Kate was just too eager to please, too much a goody-two-shoes girl," the insider revealed.

Another ex-Kensington Palace staffer described how Meghan viewed Kate’s demeanour.

"In many ways, it was just the same as the kind of backbiting gossipy criticism that Meghan had to put up with, but Kate is actually a much stronger person than Meghan in many ways."

The source went on to explain that Meghan had a very different outlook on how a royal should carry themselves.

"Meghan wanted Kate to be feistier and make her own mark. She thought Kate was being pushed around, but Kate saw it as an essential part of being a member of the royal family."

Do Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton get along?

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has previously described the Duchess of Sussex and the Princess of Wales as having a "cold" relationship, particularly after Harry and Meghan’s royal exit.

"The relationship between Meghan and Catherine was cold or cool, putting it mildly," Fitzwilliams told The Mirror.
