Britney Spears got pregnant but Justin Timberlake ‘wasn’t happy' about it

Britney Spears decided to reveal the "most agonizing experience in life” which she held close to her chest for the past two decades.

In her much anticipated memoir The Woman in Me, Spears, 41, opened up about the time she was dating Timberlake, 42, and got pregnant.

In an excerpt from her book published by PEOPLE, the pop icon shared that she was expecting their baby but had to undergo an abortion .

“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” she wrote in her book.

“But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young."

The time when two were dating each other they were really young and in their late teens and early 20s.

The Toxic crooner further recounted that event as a difficult decision sharing: "If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father."

Adding to the details of undergoing the abortion the hitmaker shared, “To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life."

Spears and Timberlake dated from 1999 until 2002.

Following their split, the Oops! I Did It Again songstress married Kevin Ferderline and had two sons, Sean Preston , 18, and Jayden James, 17, before her and Ferderline’s divorce in 2007.

Meanwhile the Mirrors singer married Jessica Biel in 2012 and together, they are parents to two young sons, Silas and Phineas.
