Chris Hemsworth clarifies acting break comments amid prospective health scare

Chris Hemsworth is anticipating a career break, however, for different reasons than previously insinuated.

The Thor actor has clarified his comments about wanting an acting break, noting that it isn’t connected to his increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease in later years.

“They were sort of blown out of proportion,” Hemsworth said of the remarks he previously made in the wake of his National Geographic series, Limitless, last year.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, the Men in Black star opened up about the discovery of the APOE4 gene in his blood, which makes him more liable to developing the neurological condition.

His diagnosis was followed by his desire to take some time off acting to spend as much time as he can with family, however, he revealed in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, “I wanted to take off because I’ve been working for 10 years, and I’ve got three kids that I want to spend more time with.”

The actor went on to explain that the National Geographic documentary made him “realize how life is just flying by, and I wanted to be still for long periods and more often.”

And as much as the much-needed acting hiatus is on the cards for Hemsworth, the actor doesn’t want to permanently press pause on it.

“I’ve been running from project to project for a long time, just to avoid being unemployed or that fear that it’s the last job you’ll get, you know?” he shared, “I wanna be more curated about the choices I make, things I immerse myself in or I’m involved in. I want to have greater value and work with great people.”
