While ChatGPT has been the talk of the town as the next biggest thing to take over the jobs of millions, Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker believes that there is a long way to go before that day dawns.

In an interview with Empire, the television presenter spoke about his attempt to use ChatGPT as he prompted it to write a Black Mirror episode.

However, in the final result, Brooker was surprised to learn that the output was not useable, in turn crushing doubts of the artificial chatbot potentially taking over jobs.

"I've toyed around with ChatGPT a bit," Brooker said.

"The first thing I did was type ‘generate Black Mirror episode’ and it comes up with something that, at first glance, reads plausibly, but on second glance, is sh*t."

To explain how it works, Brooker said that ChatGPT generated the results based on the available pool of information regarding Black Mirror, meaning that what is created is not necessarily original or even sensical.

Brooker continued, "Because all it’s done is look up all the synopses of Black Mirror episodes, and sort of mush them together. Then if you dig a bit more deeply you go, 'Oh, there’s not actually any real original thought here.' It’s [1970s impressionist] Mike Yarwood — there’s a topical reference."
