Sydney Agudong cast as Nani in Lilo & Stitch live-action remake
Sydney Agudong will be essaying the role of Lilo’s older sister cum legal guardian Nani
Disney’s live-action remake Lilo & Stitch has cast its Nani, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
As per the publication, Sydney Elizabeth Agudong has been roped in to play Lilo’s older sister cum legal guardian in the remake.
The cast includes newbie Maia Kealoha as Lilo and Zach Galifianakis, who was hired in February but details of his role remain tightly under wraps.
The beloved alien-like dog, Stitch, will of course be brought to life through CGI.
Helmed by Dean Fleischer Camp, who was behind the Oscar nominated movie Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, the remake is slated to release on Disney+.
The story tells the tale of a lonely girl Lilo and her unexpected bond with Stitch set against the backdrop of the tropical islands of Hawaii.
Though Stitch was genetically forged to a be weapon of destruction, the two form an unlikely bond all whilst rowdy social workers and aliens come to her door
The adaptation's script was written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright. Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois wrote and directed the first film, which, while not a box office success at the time, gained a devoted following that has only increased in the years afterwards.
Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich are producing with Ryan Halprin executive producing.
