Jimmy Kimmel warns everyone thinking about Oscars slap

The fact that Jimmy Kimmel must host the ceremony precisely one year after that notorious slap makes it likely one of the least appealing positions in recent Academy Awards history. You're all aware of it; it's been a hot topic of discussion for the past year and has given rise to a plethora of amusing memes.

The Oscars are also at an all-time low in terms of ratings, so Kimmel will have to deal with a situation that could be regarded as a wild card. Jimmy Kimmel doesn't want another occurrence like that to happen because it increased the award show's viewership a little bit the previous year. On his watch, no.

When questioned about it, Jimmy Kimmel was open and honest about how he would approach it with his special brand of humour

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, he stated what follows: "If somebody comes up on the stage and slaps me? Well, I size them up, and, if I'm bigger than they are, I beat the s-t out of them on television. And if it's the Rock, I run. Well, whatever I say about it, it's going to have to be great, right? Because so much has been said and there's so much focus on it. I obviously don't want to make the whole monologue about that, but it would be ridiculous not to mention it."

Jimmy Kimmel and Oscars:

But it's hardly the only embarrassing Oscars event in recent memory, as demonstrated by Will Smith and Chris Rock. In reality, at the 2017 ceremony, Jimy Kimmel was directly at the centre of yet another error. When the final award of the evening was announced at that time, everyone noticed the name was incorrect.

The Academy even asked Kimmel to host the 2018 ceremony after he did his best to handle the situation. Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the Oscars for the third time in his career as a comedy presenter in 2023. Throughout the history of television, only eight other people have presided over these ceremonies more than twice. If another incident like the slap doesn't happen, this award show might not exist anymore.
