Jimmy Fallon is surely into music.

Jimmy Fallon shared his prediction for the 2023 Grammy Awards song of the year and even took the stage to perform it himself.

The comedian asked Paul Shaffer, who is standing in for The Roots while they attend the Grammy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 5, while hosting "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," what song he believes will make the cut.

Shaffer mentioned the historic years that musicians like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Bonnie Raitt had, claiming that any of them may be contenders for the honour. But Fallon stood by his convictions.

"Mine is 'As It Was,' Harry Styles," Fallon said. "Harry Styles, 'As It Was' all the way. That is song of the year for me."

The talk show host responded that the 2022 song that won Song of the Year contains "a bit of everything that I love in it" in response to Shaffer's next question.

"It's almost like it's filled with influences from all my favourite artists. I'll show you what I mean. Can you give me a beat?" Shaffer and The World's Most Dangerous Band started the musical interlude to "As It Was" in response to Fallon's question.

Fallon said as he got up from his desk that the song's opening few seconds remind him of a David Bowie "flow." He did a Bowie impression and started singing the song.

The following poetic lyrics, notably the lines, seem to be reminiscent of Bob Dylan, Fallon continued "Answer the phone. Harry, you're no good alone. Why are you sitting at home on the floor? What kind of pills are you on?"

The 48-year-old claimed that many stanzas into the song, there is a "rapid fire bridge" that he adores and that makes him think of Adam Sandler.

The audience laughed and cheered as he then began speaking in gibberish that was reminiscent of Adam Sandler.

However, he also compared Mick Jagger to that passage of "As It Was," pretending to be the Rolling Stones singer for a few lines.

When he reached the famous chorus, Fallon paused and said the words cause him to reflect on life in a Bruce Springsteen-like manner.

When Fallon briefly addressed the audience as the vocalist of "Born to Run," the band abruptly changed the song's mood.

As dancers ran on stage for the big finale and bright beach balls flooded the air in the audience, Fallon continued to impersonate Springsteen while passionately singing the chorus.

The camera shifted over for an image of a life-sized doll being handed around the studio while Fallon humorously "jumped" into the audience to crowd surf.

The show came to a close with Fallon singing "As It Was" from the ground while being surrounded by beach balls and wishing Sunday night's Grammy nominations success.
