Dua Lipa granted Albanian citizenship for musical contribution

Dua Lipa has been granted an Albanian citizenship on Sunday by the country’s president.

President Bajram Begaj said that the citizenship was granted in consideration of the London-based singer’s contribution in spreading the country’s name on an international level through her musical works.

"I will be an Albanian with papers too," Lipa said before taking her citizenship oath at Tirana city hall.

She later added on Instagram, "Thank you President Bajram Begaj and Mayor @erionveliaj for this honour ~ got my Albanian citizenship!! ~ faleminderit, po ndihem shume krenare."

"It is an indescribable great joy with such acceptance, love and everything," said Lipa. 

She then proceeded to take a passport photo, get fingerprinted and signed an application form for an identity card and passport.
