Trevor Noah also weighed in on Elon Musk's controversial Twitter takeover, particularly his $8 verification plan.

In the most recent episode of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah took a dig at Elon musk and called his $8 verification plan, which is to charge people to get a blue tick on Twitter, "ridiculous."

According to Variety, Noah referred to Musk as "the guy who always looks like a ghost, whether it’s Halloween or not, and reasoned by doing this musk is contradicting his own mission of bringing free speech and equality to Twitter.

Noah quipped that at this point Musk should give free blue ticks to everyone if he's to abolish twitter's current "lords and peasant system (Musk's tweet)"

He further joked, "Why are you charging people? It doesn’t make sense to offer it as ‘equality’ and then put a price on it, do you get what I’m saying? Can you imagine if MLK was out there like, ‘I have a dream. I have a dream… and I’ll tell you all about it for $8.99 a month.’ It wouldn’t be the same thing."

Noah also said, "if Elon Musk wants to make money from Twitter, what he should do [is], don’t charge people for blue checkmarks. Charge white people to say the N-word. Twitter will be the most profitable company in history. Racists will be taking loans."

He seemed to reference the fact that the use of the N-word spiked to 500% after Musk's takeover of the company.

The outlet further reveals that originally Musk planned to lift up the price for the Twitter Blue subscription plan from $4.99 to $19.99 per month and that would be the only way to maintain the verified status.

However, due to facing backlash over the decision, Musk decided to decrease the price to the $8 per month tier on Twitter and said that he will "explain the rationale in longer form before this is implemented. It is the only way to defeat the bots & trolls."
