As the streaming company continues to reduce its library, nearly 200 Sesame Street episodes were removed from HBO Max.

The long-running children's show still had 456 episodes available on HBO Max as of Friday.

Variety reports that the streaming service removed some of the show's earliest seasons' worth of episodes.

HBO Max yanked 36 titles overall and 20 original titles in addition to Sesame Street this week, according to The Wrap.

Additionally, the company declared that it would no longer be releasing Scoob! Holiday Haunt or Batgirl.

Pursuing the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery Inc., Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of HBO Max, previously claimed that the decision to remove certain titles from the service was motivated by the upcoming merger of HBO Max and Discovery+.

"As we work toward bringing our content catalogues together under one platform, we will be making changes to the content offering available on both HBO Max and Discovery+," the company said in a statement, per Variety

"That will include the removal of some content from both platforms."

A request for comment from People magazine was not answered by representatives for HBO Max or Sesame Workshop.

According to Variety, the decision was made as a way for Warner Bros. Discovery to cut expenses and lower licencing fees for streaming content.

Previously this month, a spokesperson for HBO Max told Deadline that "live-action kids and family programming will not be part of our programming focus in the immediate future" after news of the revocation of Gordita Chronicles broke.
