Nicole Kidman looks back at intense media scrutiny during marriage to Tom Cruise

During an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Nicole Kidman opened up about how her marriage to Tom Cruise was put under intense media scrutiny which annoyed her. 

The 54-year-old shared, “I was young. I think I offered it up? Maybe I’ve gotten a bit more trepidatious, but I’m always trying to be as open as possible.”

She went on, “I just prefer to live in the world that way. … I’m wary at times, and I’ve been hurt. But at the same time, I much prefer a warm approach rather than a prickly shut-down approach.”

She added, “My husband, Keith, says that when he met me, he said, ‘How’s your heart?’ And I apparently responded, ‘Open.’”

Cruise and Kidman got married in 1990 and parted ways in 2001.
