Singer Kelly Clarkson felt her emotions resurface as she listened to the moving performance of her famous breakup ballad from 2009— Already Gone. With time, the meaning behind the lyrics has become more meaningful for the songstress, especially after filing for divorce from her husband of seven years.

The Stronger singer has returned to the twentieth season of The Voice just in time for the Knockout Rounds. Kelly strategically chose two of the best contestants Ryleigh Modig and Corey Ward to face off in the Knockouts. However, this decision came at a price.

Corey decided to pick one of Kelly’s popular breakup ballad and gave the most soulful performance during rehearsals. The rendition of her song was so heart touching that Kelly had to hold back her tears.

"When I wrote 'Already Gone,' I was going through something that I thought, 'It's okay. It doesn't always have to work out," Clarkson divulged. "Hearing him sing that to me, in my life now, it's like, are you smacking me in the face with my own message?"

"It's interesting when you write something, and you don't feel it 'til years later," she added.

She chose Corey from the knockout round, while Ryleigh was saved by John Legend. Later, the 38-year-old singer showered praises on Corey’s performance on her Twitter and called it ‘pure magic’.

"I honestly have no words @_coreyward_! Your version of Already Gone was pure magic! #TeamKelly#TheVoice"
