Kyle Busch's legacy lives on as son claims emotional first win

Brexton Busch celebrated an emotional victory at Oklahoma's Port City Raceway, but the milestone was overshadowed by the heartbreaking absence of his late father, NASCAR legend Kyle Busch.

The 11-year-old claimed victory in the restricted micro sprint class while driving his dad's former No. 18 car, marking his first race win since Kyle's death in May. 

Proud mum Samantha Busch admitted the moment was filled with mixed emotions as the family continues to cope with their devastating loss.

Sharing a photo of Brexton standing proudly on his winning car with a chequered flag, Samantha wrote that she was "beyond proud" of her son for showing incredible strength during such a difficult time. 

She also confessed she was "beyond shattered" that Kyle was not there to witness the special moment.

Despite starting near the back of the grid after an early crash reshuffled the field, Brexton fought his way through the pack to secure an impressive victory. 

Samantha praised his determination and thanked the racing community for supporting her son, giving special mention to fellow drivers who have coached and encouraged him in recent weeks.

She also posted clips of Brexton competing in Kyle's former car and chatting with experienced micro sprint driver Frank Flud, saying she was grateful for everyone helping her son navigate life after tragedy.

For those unfamiliar, Kyle died on May 21 at the age of 41 after severe pneumonia developed into sepsis, causing rapid complications. 

His passing sent shockwaves through the NASCAR world, with tributes pouring in for the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion.
