IShowSpeed set to make history at FIFA World Cup 2026 closing ceremony

IShowSpeed is set to make history as the first content creator to perform at a FIFA World Cup final closing ceremony.

The 21-year-old internet star whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr. has been confirmed as part of the entertainment lineup ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final at New York New Jersey Stadium.

Speed will perform his viral track World Cup (Champions) which was released in June and quickly became a fan favourite.

During a recent livestream Speed revealed that FIFA approached him to secure the rights to perform the track at the tournament finale.

Speed is expected to deliver a choreographed version of the song with fans anticipating one of his trademark backflips during the performance.

The influencer has been a regular presence throughout the tournament partnering with Fox Sports and YouTube to provide alternative matchday coverage aimed at younger audiences.

His inclusion in the closing ceremony reflects FIFA's growing effort to connect with Gen Z and digitally native football fans.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin 90 minutes before kick-off with FIFA encouraging spectators to arrive early for the pre-match entertainment featuring IShowSpeed alongside stars including Tom Cruise, Robbie Williams and Nicole Scherzinger.
