Will Smith, whose professional and personal life is already a mess, is now facing another major blow following the lawsuit between his former friend and wife.

The American rapper-actor has been pulled into ongoing legal battle after Will’s former pal Bilaal Salam accused Jada Pinkett Smith for $3 million, alleging that the Collateral actress caused emotional distress as she threatened him in the lobby of Regency Calabasas Commons in September 2021.

Bilaal sent an email on July 7 to his ex-friend Will where he requested him to provide a testimony in a deposition case.

However, Jada’s legal team responded via email that there is “nothing to meet and confer about because Will is not a party to this litigation”.

The Nutty Professor actress’ team also stated that the King Richard star has not been served a subpoena demanding his testimony.

In another court documents obtained by People magazine, Jada’s attorneys hit out at Bilaal’s “untimely responses, claiming he has not provided sufficient evidence, prompting a motion to compel”.

For the unversed, Bilaal alleged in his lawsuit that a “retaliatory campaign was launched against him” when he rejected to help Jada with “crisis management” after Men in Black actor smacked Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.

Will’s friend claimed that he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, a 100-pound weight gain, high blood pressure and diabetes because of this smear campaign.

However, Jada’s lawyers demanded for Bilaal’s recorded communications with those he claimed were involved in threatening him and medical records relating to the emotional distress he claimed to have suffered.

“The recordings concern the very telephone calls on which [Salaam] bases his claims, and the medical records concern the injuries for which [Salaam] seeks at least $3 million in damages,” they added.

Meanwhile, the next hearing for Jada and Bilaal’s case will take place on August 19.
