Richard Gere and Diana Silvers have been photographed filming scenes for their upcoming film Asymmetry in New York City as production on the literary adaptation continues.

The actors were seen shooting outdoor scenes in Manhattan, with Gere dressed in a casual white shirt and jeans, while Silvers wore a patterned summer dress.

The pair filmed several moments together in a park, including scenes in which their characters walked hand in hand and sat together on a bench.

Directed by Edward Zwick, Asymmetry is based on Lisa Halliday's critically acclaimed 2018 novel.

Gere plays Ezra, a celebrated 70-year-old author, while Silvers portrays Alice, a young editorial assistant whose chance encounter with him in Central Park develops into an unconventional relationship.

According to the film's synopsis, the story follows the pair as they form a private bond that inspires both characters before their relationship is threatened by public scrutiny.

Moreover, the screenplay was adapted by Zwick, Halliday and Marshall Herskovitz.

Set photos released in recent days have generated discussion online because of the significant age difference between the lead characters, mirroring one of the novel's central themes.

Production on Asymmetry began earlier this month in New York.

The film, produced by FilmNation Entertainment and Rainmaker Films, has not yet received an official release date.
