'Yellowstone' co-stars share truth behind Cole Hauser's tough-guy image

Cole Hauser has built a reputation as one of television's toughest characters through his portrayal of Rip Wheeler on Yellowstone but according to his co-stars he's nothing like his on-screen alter ego when the cameras stop rolling.

Kelly Reilly who stars opposite Hauser as Beth Dutton has previously described him as one of her closest friends saying the pair have developed a strong bond during their years working together on the hit series.

Young actor Finn Little who plays Carter also praised Hauser's supportive nature saying he and Reilly never pressured him during filming and instead helped him learn naturally by example.

Newcomer Marc Menchaca recalled a relaxed atmosphere behind the scenes revealing there was plenty of laughter on set despite the show's often intense storylines.

Jefferson White who plays Jimmy jokingly called Hauser "the scariest guy on set" before clarifying that the actor is a true leader who always makes sure everyone has what they need to perform at their best.

Hauser himself has admitted he was surprised by the popularity of Rip Wheeler initially believing audiences would dislike the character because of his violent nature. Instead fans embraced Rip's loyalty and devotion particularly his relationship with Beth.

Speaking about Reilly, Hauser previously said that away from filming they have more of a brother-and-sister relationship highlighting the close friendships that have developed among the cast over the years.
