BBC Antiques Roadshow expert Theo Burrell has died at the age of 39 following a courageous battle with glioblastoma which is known to be a highly aggressive brain tumour.

Her husband Alex announced the heartbreaking news on Instagram revealing that Theo passed away peacefully on Wednesday surrounded by her family.

In his emotional tribute he described Theo as an "incredible person" who fought tirelessly for her loved ones while dedicating herself to raising awareness about brain tumours.

"She was an incredible person who fought hard for her family, friends and raising awareness of this cruel disease," he wrote.

Alex also reflected on milestones Theo was able to experience despite her diagnosis including celebrating her wedding and seeing their son start school moments doctors had feared she might never witness.

Only last month Theo marked four years since being diagnosed with glioblastoma noting that she had far outlived the 12 to 18 months doctors initially expected her to survive.

Brain Tumour Research CEO Dan Knowles described Theo as "phenomenal, determined and truly inspiring" praising her unwavering commitment to helping others despite knowing her illness was terminal.

Theo Burrell will be remembered not only for her expertise on Antiques Roadshow but also for her determination to inspire hope and improve the future for people affected by brain tumours.
