Adam Sandler earns praise after officiating Taylor Swift's wedding

Adam Sandler has been defended as the perfect person to officiate Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's lavish wedding after some fans questioned why the Hollywood funnyman was chosen for the role.

The 59-year-old actor, who presided over the couple's star-studded ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York earlier this month, has won glowing praise from actress and singer Jana Kramer, who insisted the choice made complete sense once people looked beyond his comedy image.

Speaking on her Whine Down podcast, the 42-year-old recalled working with Sandler on Click and described him as one of the kindest men she has met.

Kramer said Sandler is naturally warm, thoughtful and soft-spoken, adding that his sentimental personality made him the ideal person to lead such an emotional occasion. 

While many expected a comedian to turn the ceremony into a string of jokes, she believes he struck the perfect balance between humour and heartfelt sincerity.

Sandler, who recently celebrated 23 years of marriage with wife Jackie, reportedly accepted the honour immediately when the couple asked him to officiate. 

A source claimed he wanted to speak from the heart rather than put on a performance, sharing simple relationship advice drawn from his own successful marriage.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also praised Sandler's ceremony, revealing the actor encouraged the newlyweds to "kiss every chance you have", including before work, before bed and even after disagreements.

Sandler has previously spoken warmly about his friendship with both Travis and Taylor, describing the NFL star as funny and down-to-earth while calling the chart-topping singer "ridiculously nice" to his family.
