Broadway actor Josh Grisetti, best known for his performances in Something Rotten! and It Shoulda Been You as well as his recurring role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, has died at the age of 44.
The news was shared by his longtime friend and Something Rotten! co-star Rob McClure, who paid an emotional tribute on social media.
"It is with a shattered heart that I share that the brilliant Josh Grisetti took his own life on Friday," McClure wrote. "Some of my all-time favorite memories were by this man's side, playing his brother onstage for years."
Grisetti portrayed Nigel Bottom in both the Broadway and touring productions of Something Rotten!, starring opposite McClure, who played Nick Bottom. He also appeared on Broadway as Marty Kaufman in It Shoulda Been You.
On television, Grisetti was widely recognized for playing Ralph Emerson in the fifth season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, appearing in eight episodes. His TV credits also included The Knights of Prosperity, Nurse Jackie, and The Good Fight.
Throughout his career, Grisetti earned praise for his stage presence, comedic timing and versatility across theatre and television.
His death has prompted an outpouring of grief from the Broadway community, with colleagues remembering him as a gifted performer, cherished friend and beloved member of the theatre world.
