Christian Bale recently explained how Hollywood was skeptical about his role in the Batman trilogy.

The English actor, who plays the role of Patrick Bateman in all three Batman movies, revealed in his latest interview that he was discouraged by people in the industry, describing it as “career suicide” for him.

However, Christian was adamant about playing this role, and he took it up as a challenge.

“I am like, 'bring it on'… But definitely want to do that,” said the 52-year-old.

The Dark Knight actor pointed out, “Other people also said that if he plays Batman… That’s it. You are never going to play anything else again, and you will always be Batman.”

“I went, bring it on. Let's see if that happens. Cause I just always felt like if I don't have the skill to be able to rise above that, then I don't deserve to either,” explained Christian.

The American Psycho actor eventually realised that he would be known for his iconic, larger-than-life Batman role.

“I don't view it really as being stopped in the street, and for me it was, ‘I could pay off my house. That's a huge relief,’” stated Christian.

Elsewhere in the interview, the actor expressed admiration for director Christopher Nolan and even thanked him.

“The experience of actually working with him, and we went on to make four films together,” he added.
