Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster’s romance has recently hit a snag amid ongoing tension with Deborra-Lee Furness.

The Wolverine star, who went public with his relationship with Sutton last year, could not spend “quality time together,” and therefore, they “hit a major roadblock,” said an insider.

After struggling to strike a work-life balance, the Younger actress finally had some “empathy” for Hugh’s ex-wife Deborra.

An insider told Woman’s Day, “Hugh's a workaholic and she's starting to understand how lonely Deb must have felt at times,” as they referred to the actor’s work commitments.

Sutton, who shares one daughter with ex-husband Ted Griffin, had been busy in her acting career, which is why, she’s “finding it hard to be by Hugh’s side at so many events”.

Sutton is also busy with her own career, in addition to raising her daughter, Emily Dale, nine, whom the American actress shares with her ex-husband, screenwriter Ted Griffin.

“It's not that she's shy, but she's busy with her own career and still has a young daughter to raise,” explained an insider.

The source mentioned, that the “biggest casualty of all is Hugh and Sutton finding quality time together – they're like passing ships sometimes”.

Meanwhile, the actor had also left terrified because of Deborra’s new plans.

A source spilled to Radar Online, “A book is step one, but for Deb to justify the big bucks she’ll have to lay everything out there, which will likely include Hugh’s shady behaviour with Sutton and other occasions where he wasn’t exactly lily-white.”

For the unversed, Deb and Hugh finalised their divorce in June 2025 after 27 years of marriage while his romance with Sutton started in late 2024.
