Christina Applegate has refused to let Multiple Sclerosis steal her trademark sense of humour, even as the beloved actress continues to battle the devastating condition behind closed doors.
The 54-year-old star, best known for playing Kelly Bundy in the hit sitcom Married… With Children, was diagnosed with MS in 2021 and has largely stayed out of the spotlight ever since.
But according to her longtime co-star and friend, David Faustino, she is still facing her toughest days with the same sharp wit fans have always adored.
Speaking about her health struggles, David admitted it is difficult to fully understand what she is going through.
However, he praised Christina’s resilience, describing her battle with the debilitating illness as a “real blow” that has been incredibly hard for her.
Despite the challenges, the 52-year-old actor revealed that her famous dry and sarcastic humour remains intact.
“She’s extremely sarcastic, extremely dry,” he said, adding that humour has become one of the ways she copes with the daily realities of the disease.
The pair have remained close since Married… With Children ended in 1997, and David said he continues to support his former co-star however he can.
He described himself as someone on her team who gives her “as much love” as possible.
Christina has spoken candidly about her MS journey through her podcast, MesSy, which she co-hosts with fellow actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who was also diagnosed with the condition.
Earlier last year, she made a heartbreaking admission about the toll the illness has taken on her body.
Dead to Me actress revealed she had been rushed to hospital more than 30 times since her diagnosis, suffering from severe pain, vomiting and other symptoms she described as “unimaginable”.
