David Beckham discusses experience with wife Victoria Beckham label

David Beckham has reflected on his approach to business and investment, revealing supporting people he believes in has been central to his decisions, including backing his wife Victoria Beckham’s fashion brand.

Speaking at Forbes’ fifth annual Iconoclast Summit in New York City, the former footballer discussed lessons he has learned in business and the importance of self-belief and trust in others.

“One of the best pieces of advice that I’ve probably been given in business is that I like to invest in myself.” he said.

He added, “I like to invest in my wife because I know that she’s going to get up every single morning and go to work.”

His comments come after previously acknowledging the financial challenges tied to Victoria Beckham’s fashion label, which he invested in early on.

In her 2025 Netflix docuseries, Victoria opened up about the pressure of keeping the business afloat.

“I almost lost everything and that was a dark, dark time. I used to cry before I went to work every day because I felt like a firefighter. We were 10s of millions in the red.” she said.

“Yes, I’m going home to my husband, but I’m going home to my business partner as well. And so I would talk to him about it. I had to. He was invested. And I hated it. I absolutely hated it,” she added.

Moreover, she also reflected on the strain it placed on their partnership, noting the difficulty of separating business and marriage during the brand’s struggles.
