Maya Jama’s high-profile ex Manchester City defender Rúben Dias have found themselves back in the spotlight after he finally broke his silence on their split.

He firmly denie the claims that he ever cheated on the Love Island presenter.

In a candid Instagram statement, the 29-year-old football star insisted their relationship ended without betrayal.

He said that he had been left stunned by the wave of speculation swirling online.

He even revealed that the rumours had reached his own family, claiming his 85-year-old grandfather had been asking whether he had been unfaithful after seeing repeated reports.

Dias wrote that Maya “deserves all the respect in the world” and insisted their relationship was built on “mutual respect” from start to finish.

He added that while the breakup was painful, it was private and not the result of any wrongdoing on either side.

Moreover, he also hit out at what he called “clickbait” stories, warning that repeated false claims can begin to feel like truth when amplified online.

“Not always one has to betray the other in order for a relationship to end,” he said, urging fans to respect both their privacy.

However, the controversy hasn’t stopped speculation.

Dias has been accused of “toe-dipping” on social media, a trend where users briefly follow influencers late at night to test attention, before quickly unfollowing if there’s no response.

Reports suggest he used the tactic with several women in recent months, including models and influencers, though there is no suggestion of any physical infidelity.

Since the split, both Dias and Maya have wiped traces of their relationship from Instagram, while fans noticed her silence as he lifted silverware with Manchester City under Pep Guardiola.

Neither party has suggested reconciliation, and representatives for the 31-year-old star have so far declined to comment.
