Akon opens up about having multiple partners at a time

Akon has recently offered insight into his personal life as he reflects on having multiple wives at one time.

The Smack That singer talks about his polyamorous lifestyle and the rules he abides by to maintain his relationships.

Although Akon didn’t reveal exact number of his partners, the Senegalese-American singer points out that his relationships work because of the rules “that are set” around us.

During his latest appearance on We Need to Talk podcast, the Chammak Challo hit-maker says, “We control that behaviour to appease our partner because of the same rules that we’re living by and that we’re, you can say, agreeing upon.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Akon explains how commitment changes expectation within relationships.

“When you are attached or you’ve promised someone that this is a relationship that we’re supposed to hold in the rules that you decide to hold it in,” states the 53-year-old.

For the unversed, Akon has nine children, including seven boys and two girls.

Reflecting on his life, the Lonely singer mentions that the “setup all depends on the person and the understanding”.

“It’s communication. You got to be mature enough to know that, ‘If this is the situation that I’m going to park in, I have to communicate,’” remarks Akon

Meanwhile, the Right Now singer admits that his wives are “not allowed to date any other person” and his first wife will always remain his “permanent emergency contact”.

“Nobody violates Wife No. 1. The moment they violate, [they are] out the door,” adds Akon.
